Self-growth

Self-growth is the most underestimated asset you own

We invest in everything except the person living our life. By Esti Kedem, CBT-certified life & relationship coach.

People invest in apartments, in careers, in savings accounts, in their children's future. And so many neglect the one asset that quietly determines the value of all the others: themselves.

Self-growth is the most underestimated asset of our time. Not because people do not care, but because it does not send monthly statements. Nobody shows you the compounding interest on becoming a calmer, clearer, more honest version of yourself. So let me show you.

The asset that pays into everything

Grow your self-awareness and your relationship improves, because you stop outsourcing your old wounds to your partner. Your parenting improves, because children learn regulation from regulated adults. Your work improves, because boundaries and clarity are career skills. Even your health improves, because chronic stress loosens its grip.

Name one other investment that pays dividends into every single corner of your life at once. There is not one.

Why we neglect it

As a CBT coach I can tell you the exact sentences that block people: "I do not have time for myself." "It is selfish when my family needs me." "This is just who I am." "I will get to it when things calm down."

Every one of these is a thought, not a fact. And the most expensive one is the last, because things do not calm down. Seasons change, and the person you postponed becomes the person you never met.

Growth is not a luxury. It is maintenance.

We accept that a car needs service and a house needs repairs. A self needs the same: regular, honest attention. Not a crisis response after the burnout, but a practice before it.

And here is what I tell every parent who feels guilty about it: working on yourself is not time stolen from your family. It is the single most generous thing you bring home. What we model becomes their blueprint. What we neglect becomes their normal.

How compounding works in a person

The mechanism is beautifully simple, and it is pure CBT: the thoughts you repeat become the beliefs you live by, and the beliefs you live by shape every choice, conversation, and relationship you have.
